ISSUE BRIAN´S POSITION
INFRASTRUCTURE We are currently building a 24,000 square foot building to house all of the county departments that are currently spread throughout town - a goal I have been pursuing since being elected as Commissioner. Infrastructure in the county includes not just roads, but buildings as well. Having the County's departments co-located proximately will result in much greater efficiency, as well as convenience for the citizen who needs to get something done. Roads are of course very important to the county, and I will continue to pursue the improvement of various roadways throughout the county.
GROWTH Jefferson County is experiencing a major growth spurt. I currently work with Planning and Zoning to help both plan and organize the current, as well as future, growth of the county.
UNFUNDED MANDATES Unfunded mandates are programs that the federal government tells us we have to do without proper financial means to accomplish these programs. My stance is to work closely with our legislatures and representatives to either stop or push for funding from the federal government to assist or ease the tax burden of the citizens of Jefferson County.
WASTEFUL SPENDING I will continue to keep close tabs on departmental spending and treat the County's finances as though they were my own. I will strive to make sure the tax dollars received are put to proper use and not abused.
TRANSPARENCY 5. Transparency for the public has been a problem in the past, but it has been my goal and effort ever since being elected to be fully transparent. I feel like I have been, and will continue to be.
